Acolytes

Acolytes serve at our 9am and 11am services.

  • Acolytes should arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the service in order to vest and prepare.  You need to be ready to go 10 minutes prior to the start of the service.
  • Please wear “sturdy” shoes.  Do NOT wear flimsy flip-flops, high heels, shoes that make loud click-clacking noise when you walk, or wheelie sneakers.
  • All acolytes, including captains, are encouraged to go to Sunday School.  Acolytes choosing not to attend Sunday School must remain in the service and be ready to carry the cross in the gospel procession (rather than “hanging out” somewhere).
  • Return from Sunday School at 9:35 a.m. during the 9 o’clock service, at 11:40 a.m. during the 11 o’clock service.
  • Remember to get a substitute if you cannot serve!  Please arrange a substitute with other acolytes who are normally a part of your service.  And be aware that if you’re a captain, you really need to try to find another captain to serve as your substitute.  If you notify the office adminassist@st-michaels.org by 9 a.m. on Thursday the change will be reflected in Sunday’s pew sheet; if we’re not notified of the substitution, your name will be listed.
